In the current situation wherein transportworkers throughout
the country and the world suffer the onslaught of neoliberal
globalization (i.e. liberalization, deregulation and privatization)
which worsen poverty and oppression of the working people and
batter their mass organizations, especially the trade unions, NCTU
resolves to adhere in Social Movement Unionism (SMU) and in the
need to expand and strengthen the labor movement to defend and
advance effectively its members’ common interests and welfare.
Hence, it has joined two broader labor organizations here and
abroad. In the national level, NCTU joins with the Sentro ng mga
Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa (SENTRO), a national
labor center, which was co-founded by NCTU and now the leading
advocate of SMU. In the international sphere, NCTU is affiliated to
the International Transportworkers’ Federation (ITF), the biggest
leading global union federation (GUF) of unionized
transportworkers throughout the world
